Madras Vanakam in Goettingen

Actually the best Indian in Göttingen. Unfortunately the delivery times are very long and the food does not always taste the same. You can clearly see that there are probably several chefs who have a strong role in making the food spicier. Yesterday I was hit on by the supplier stupidly that I should pick up the food downstairs because of contactless delivery. I've never heard an outrageous excuse! For now I will not order there anymore and see if it will be better in a few weeks.

The best Indian restaurant in Göttingen. I can especially recommend the naan and chicken korma. Plus, they have the nicest suppliers in the world!

We have already ordered several times at the Madras Vanakam restaurant. At first we were absolutely thrilled: Freshly baked nan, an ingenious cheese soup and excellent curry. We could practically order whatever we wanted - the quality was always very good. Unfortunately, the quality has decreased for about 1-2 months. The rice is mushy, the butter chicken curry is more tomato than any other (little meat, no spices except tomatoes), the tandori grill plate was a disaster (16 € and it was actually only rice and vegetables, and all the sauces were only half full ) and the Nan are now only limp and sticky. In addition, there are often long waiting times of an hour or more. Conclusion: In April / May we looked forward to our food with every order. In the meantime, we no longer order from Madras Vanakam, as we were increasingly disappointed. What a shame! P.S .: Of course, this does not mean that the food on site is insufficient. We only advise against ordering via Delivery Hero or similar websites.

Food arrived almost an hour late with a total of 2 hours delivery time. On the phone you will be assured upon request that the food will be there in 5 minutes, but if it has not arrived half an hour later, it will no longer be picked up. When the food finally came it was cold ...

Very nice staff. We had the chicken tikka and the lamb tikka with rice and garlic nan. All of the dishes were delicious, especially the chicken tikka.

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, the long waiting times between the individual courses of the menu and the drinks orders took so long that our stay was rather uncomfortable.

By far the best Indian food in Göttingen (probably beyond ;-)). Very friendly staff, large portions and an interesting Indian red wine. Only the waiting time for the food is sometimes too long. Perhaps you should know that beforehand. Possibly. the owners should think about using one more employee during peak hours! Thank you for many years of very good food !!!!

A visit that was worth it. Good food that is freshly prepared - you have to expect a little waiting time - so don't necessarily appear starved. The quality will surely make up for you too! I got 2 x 👍👍

Have often had something delivered from this restaurant. We were always satisfied except for the long delivery time. In contrast to the rest of the time, they were really fast this time, 1h. Unfortunately for the first time the food was not so good. An extremely sweet butter chicken, couldn't finish it. The man who was supposed to bring us the food to the apartment stayed in front of the front door and didn't press the door until I went to the intercom and he told me twice very rudely that I had to pick up the food from below.

Very authentic, delicious Indian food. As Indians we asked that the food be spicy for us. In the end it was too hot even for us :) The outside garden we sat in needs some major renovation. But it didn't get in the way of the tasty food.

The food would be worth 5 stars, but the delivery times are just not right at well over an hour. Dear Madras team, you can cook well enough to hire another cook and more suppliers. The people who wait so forever for their order would thank you with more sales. Unfortunately, you don't feel like ordering regularly.

Great ambience, very, very delicious food, the portions are completely sufficient. Very friendly service, all in all very recommendable 5 stars and see you next time.

Very good food.

This is the best Indian restaurant from the city. There is an exponential diference (for better) in food taste and flavours from the other Indian restaurants in Göttingen. We often ask home deliveries and it is also great. Chicken Beryani is Highly recommended, the different colours of rice used are amazing.

They are ok most of the times. I had one particularly bad experience: Estemated duration for delivery was 45 minutes; arter 90 minutes we asked about it: "going out every moment" Food came after over 120 minutes. They didn't even really appologize

I found the food solid, surely not splendid tho , what I didn't like at all was that they use food colourants as well as taste enhancers in many of their dishes (they are marked tho, what's kinda good, so you can choose the dishes without any of that). Completely unnecessary in my opinion, Indian food doesnt need that!

A nice place to hang out, service is not fast, so I can recommend it. Last time my gf and I waited for way more than an hour. I had not eaten and wanted to go home, because to groups of people who arrived at least 20 minutes later were served first. The waiter was not able to adress this. I am not unfriendly, but I came often and demanding patience from a customer has to better have a good reason. So I will not be visiting soon, but my experience is unlikely to repeat. Still 3 stars out of my appreciation for the meals before. Years ago, Indian restaurant in Göttingen were just as much dissapointing letting us wait a lot.
